“Small Space, Big Impact: Designing for Compact Living”

Introduction

As urbanization grows, so does the demand for smart, space-efficient design. Creating functional and aesthetic interiors for small spaces is a rewarding challenge. Here’s how I approach designing for compact living as an Interior Design student.

Strategies for Maximizing Space

1. Prioritizing Multifunctional Furniture: I incorporate pieces like sofa beds, foldable tables, and storage ottomans to optimize usability.
2. Embracing Vertical Space Designing shelves, lofts, and hanging storage helps maximize every square foot. For example, a recent project included a wall-mounted desk with integrated lighting and shelves.
   
3. Using Light and Color to Expand Perception Neutral palettes, mirrors, and strategic lighting create an illusion of spaciousness, making small rooms feel open and inviting.
